The first and foremost priority when building a swimming pool is that it should contain water and not leak. But over time and with use, there is bound to be wear and tear and the joint sealants, fittings or even swimming pool shells can deteriorate and leak. It is very important to repair any pool leaks, not just to save on heating, chemicals and water (most of us are on some sort of water meter now), but also to prevent further damage to the pool structure or neighbouring buildings.
How do I know if my swimming pool is leaking?
The bucket test…!
This well known bucket test is a very simple procedure to find out if your pool is leaking or not; place a bucket filled with pool water on a pool step (weight it with a rock or brick). Fill the bucket with water and make sure the water level inside the bucket is the same as the pool water level outside the bucket. Mark the water level on both the inside and the outside of the bucket. Check the mark 24 hours later. If there’s a greater drop in the line on the outside of the bucket, a leak in the swimming pool is indicated. This test needs to be conducted with the pump on, then again with the pump off.

Very often the cause of the problem can be quickly identified and a quote for repair given on site, but if not then we can arrange for the pool pipes to be pressure tested using specialist equipment, or in more difficult cases arrange a sonar test. There will be a small fee for this test but that will fully deductible from contract price should you accept our quote for repair of your swimming pool leak.
